Marion Church Hosting One-Man Christmas Carol

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 930 Harding Memorial Pkwy (in the park near the hospital), will present local thespian John Heisel as Charles Dickens.  Heisel will be performing “A Christmas Carol” as a one man show, historically authentic, as performed by Charles Dickens in England and America.  John will be using the script from Dickens own prompt book.

Charles Dickens wrote this beloved story, first published December 19, 1843 by Chapman & Hall, as a social statement and to point out the true meaning of Christmas. The tale has been credited with restoring the holiday to one of merriment and festivity in Britain and America at a time of solemn and somberness. Queen Victoria and Prince Albert read this story to their children as the royal tree was being decorated.

A Christmas Carol remains popular, has never been out of print, and has been adapted to film, stage, opera and other media multiple times.

The community is invited to join in this celebration on Friday, December 7th, 2012 at 7:00pm.  The event is family friendly and free to all.

Donations are greatly appreciated and any donations will go towards the St. Paul’s Recording Fund.
