Boil Advisory Lifted After Water Samples Test Clean

Aqua OhioAqua Ohio Water Company’s (Aqua) Marion Division has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory that it issued Friday for customers in the Marion service area, which included the City of Marion and the villages of Caledonia, Martel and Prospect.

Water samples taken over the past 24 hours have tested clean, indicating that as of 5:00pm customers no longer need to boil their tap water before drinking it.

Aqua Ohio issued the boil alert after a water main break occurred at approximately 7:00am on Friday, January 11, 2013. While the break was isolated within an hour, it caused the system to lose pressure. When a water main is depressurized, the Ohio EPA requires a water utility to issue a boil advisory.

During the precautionary boil order advisory, the company performs a series of tests to confirm that the water meets regulatory drinking water standards.
