Legal Aid Society Receives Grants from Marion Community Foundation

The Marion office of the Legal Aid Society of Columbus has received a grant totaling $5,700.00 to provide legal representation to low income Marion County residents seeking to register a child for school.

Sometimes for health, financial, or other reasons the custodial parent or parents cannot care for their child.  If they place their child with a relative or friend in a different school district, the child may not be eligible to register for school.  Now low income households can come to the Legal Aid office at 150 Oak Street, Marion, Ohio and receive assistance obtaining custody of the child so that the school district can accept the child as a student.

This grant will help fulfill America’s promise to make the Courts available to all Americans.

Marion County residents that need this assistance may contact the Marion Office of the Legal Aid Society of Columbus at 740/383-2161.
