The Marion Police Department says they have noticed an increasing trend of thefts from motor vehicles located near area bars since December of 2012. They say purses have been stolen from cars parked in bar and tavern parking lots at a regular rate.
Police say there have been at least five different incidents with multiple victims since December 1, 2012.
The Marion Police Department is urging residents to not leave valuables in unoccupied motor vehicles. If it is unavoidable, they advise you to leave your valuables in your locked trunk.
