Students involved with River Valley FFA recently wrapped up their fruit sale and competed at district and sub-district contests for parliamentary procedure.
One of the many Career Development Events (CDE’s) that the River Valley FFA Chapter participates in is the Parliamentary Procedure Contest, explained Julya Faulkner, RV FFA Reporter. Eight members make up the team and practice for several months for the competition. The team must correctly run a business meeting and properly perform multiple abilities within the meeting. Members also learn about and practice good discussion techniques.
This year’s team from River Valley placed first at the District contest and third at Sub-Districts.
Every year in November, the FFA chapter has its annual fruit sale. Members sell a variety of fruit, including oranges, apples and grapefruit, and many different types of nuts as well as meat and cheeses. Faulkner said the sale is a major fund raiser for the chapter and funds many activities throughout the year such as State and National Convention and their annual banquet.
This year the chapter sold over $40,000 worth of products. Faulkner said the River Valley FFA wants to thank everyone who purchased from them this year.
