The Marion County Commissioners on Thursday, January 31, 2013 approved a contract for engineering services for a possible project to rehab the County’s wastewater treatment plant. They also approved funding for the burial of an indigent veteran, support for a grant application for county recycling program, and a plan for health insurance for newly hired dispatchers.
The Marion County Sanitary Engineer’s Office says the county’s Fountain Place Wastewater Treatment Plant has been in operation for over 40 years and the system is in need of replacement. In order to plan for the project, they requested approval to employ an engineering firm to provide professional consulting services for the survey, design, bidding, and construction administration of this project.
The County Commissioners also approved:
- the Marion County Veterans’ Service Commission request to pay $1,000 to Boyd-Born Funeral Home of Marion for the burial of an indigent veteran;
- a plan by the Marion Township Trustees to pay the cost of medical insurance for two dispatchers, recently hired by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, through February 28, 2013. The plan was offered to stop any interruption in the dispatchers’ health insurance coverage as a result of the transfer of their employment.
- the application by Marion County Recycling and Litter Prevention’s 2013 EPA Litter Collection and Prevention Grant. The grant of $3,000 comes from the Ohio EPA and requires matching funds of $300 which will be paid from Keep Marion Beautiful donations and community sponsors.
