The Alley Cats will bring their “tight harmonies and universal humor” and take you back to the doo-wop era of the 1950s and 60s when they perform at the historic Marion Palace Theatre on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 8:00 pm.
Bev Ford, Palace Theatre Executive Director, says The Alley Cats appeal to fans of all ages, performing a refreshing twist on everyone’s favorite doo-wop classics. The four members are a perfect blend of musical talent and comedic timing. The group consists of Brian Brigham, whose solid bass vocals create The Alley Cats musical foundation, and second tenor and founding member Mando Fonseca, who is always ready with a wisecrack or zany remark to draw audience members in with their friendship and spontaneous humor. Rounding out the talented quartet are baritone Frank Romeo, whose smooth vocals melt hearts and ignites spirits the world over, and Brandon Brigham, re-creator of all of those soaring 50s first tenor lines.
The Alley Cats began in 1987 at Fullerton College in California, and landed their first professional gig at Disneyland’s “Blast to the Past.”
Soon after, they appeared on TV, radio shows, corporate events and at Performing Arts Centers, fairs, festivals, schools, and even a USO show aboard the John C. Stennis aircraft carrier, welcoming home the troops from Iraq. The Alley Cats have opened for such notable artists as Rascal Flatts, The Beach Boys, Chubby Checker, The Coasters, Bill Medley, Sha Na Na and The Tokens, as well as sharing the stage with fellow a cappella artists The Bobs, The Blenders, The Nylons, and Rockapella. Currently, The Alley Cats are the opening act for Jay Leno in Las Vegas.
Ford says the Palace has planned a day of additional activities to add to the excitement.
“Before the show, we’ll have a collection of 50s and 60s era cars parked out front, and patrons may also choose to attend a pre-show dinner in the May Pavilion at 6:30pm,” said Ford. “The dinner is an additional $15 per person and features a 50s inspired menu with a root beer float to top off your meal.”
The Alley Cats concert will take place at the Marion Palace Theatre on Saturday, May 4 at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $32, $24 and $20. The pre show dinner will take place in the May Pavilion at 6:30 p.m. Cost of the dinner is $15 per person. Reservations are required and the Palace will reserve a table for parties of 8 or 10.
