The Marion Concert Band has announced the line up for this year’s Summer Concert Series and are seeking sponsors to keep the annual tradition going. The concerts are held at the Erickson Pavilion in Marion’s McKinley Park on Sundays at 7:00pm starting June 16.
Attendance at the concerts is free, although donations are accepted to offset expenses of the scheduled performers. The exception is the Marion Concert Band, which donates its time and energy for the project.
The 2013 schedule is:
- June 16 – Marion Concert Band
- June 23 – Palace Theatre Big Band
- June 30 – Presidential Brass Ensemble
- July 7 – Marion Concert Band
- July 14 – North Side Jazz Band
- July 21 – Fountainaires
- July 28 – The Marionaires
- August 4 – Marion Concert Band
- August 11 – John Kennedy Big Band
The series’ organizers are asking those interested to consider a donation to continue the series this summer for the community. Donors are recognized in the printed program distributed at each concert, by announcement during the performance, and by mention at their web site: www.myspace.com/marionconcertband. The Marion Concert Band is a registered 501 (C) (3) charity (#34-1492139), making contributions tax deductible.
Donations in any amount would be appreciated. Checks should be made out to the Marion Concert Band, and sent to Bill Swihart, 632 Bordeaux Avenue, Marion, Ohio 43302.
