Three-hundred and thirty-three students have applied to graduate from Marion Technical College (MTC) for the 2012-2013 academic year. Two-hundred and fifty-five of those graduating will be attending MTC’s Annual Commencement Ceremony on Saturday, May 11, at 10:00 am, at the Palace Theatre in Marion.
The 2013 keynote speaker for graduation is Douglas White, Vice President of Operations at Sika Corporation, Marion, Ohio. Mr. White was brought to Marion twelve years ago through Sika and considers this his home. White holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from Ashland University after completing a bachelor’s of science degree from Golden Gate University in California. In his 35 years at Sika, White is responsible for all aspects of Sika’s Marion operation. His is actively involved in several boards in the community.
The student speaker for the Marion Technical College commencement this year is Engineering Technologies Alternative Energy candidate for graduation, Tammy Shaw of Delaware, Ohio. Tammy is from Michigan and chose Marion Technical College because of its location and the amount of credit hours that transferred in from the college she attended in Michigan. She chose her degree because she wanted a career that would allow her to be outdoors and away from a desk.
President of Marion Technical College, Dr. Richard Bryson, is proud to lead the commencement ceremony for the 41st year. “Partnerships have become a large part of who we are. We are grateful to our many constituents who allow our students to learn and gain real world experience before this day. Because of this, we know they are prepared to fill the needs of our community,” Bryson states of the 2013 graduation class.
Details of the graduation can be found on the MTC website by visiting www.mtc.edu or calling 740-389-4636.
Please note: All guests over the age of 2-years-old “must” have a ticket in order to attend. Tickets are only available through the graduates and cannot be purchased at the door. Guests should plan to arrive early as seating is very limited.
