MARMET Arrests Two for Trafficking in Prescription Pills

MARMETMARMET/METRICH Drug Task Force officers say they arrested two Marion residents Friday for trafficking prescription pills following a month-long investigation.

On April 12, 2013, the drug task force, with the assistance of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion Police Department, served a search warrant at 213 Leader Street. The search warrant was issued after a one month investigation into the trafficking of prescription pills.

When detectives executed the search warrant, the two suspects they were seeking, Richard Young and Melissa Fyffe, were not at the home.

Officers say they located Young and Fyffe later in the day in Caledonia. When Young and Fyffe noticed the detectives approaching, they fled a short distance in a vehicle to a relative’s house before being arrested.

Richard Young, 29, of Marion, was arrested for Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs and Receiving Stolen Property. Melissa Fyffe, 27, of Marion, was arrested for Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs.

Officers say they seized over $1,000 in cash.

The case will be forwarded to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.

“The METRICH / MARMET Drug Task Force will continue to ramp up the pressure to push the drug dealers out of Marion”, said Lt. Chris Adkins.
