Pair Arrested With Large Amount of Heroin

Clifton RossThe MARMET/METRICH Drug Task Force has arrested a man following a physical struggle and seized a large amount of heroin, crack cocaine, and some cash. A woman was also arrested in the incident on Friday, April 5, 2013.

On Friday at around 11:35am, members of the MARMET/METRICH Drug Task Force with the assistance of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion Police Department stopped a vehicle in the area of North State Street and Hughes. Detectives say Clifton Ross, 38, of Marion, was a passenger in the vehicle. While a search was being conducted, detectives say Ross became combative and started fighting with officers. After what they described as a long struggle, detectives were finally able to place Ross under arrest.

The driver of the vehicle, Jasmine Campbell, 23, of Columbus, was arrested after officers said she tried to prevent them from arresting Ross.

Jasmine CampbellRoss was initially charged with Aggravated Trafficking Heroin, Aggravated Trafficking Crack/Cocaine, and Resisting Arrest. Campbell was initially charged with Aggravated Trafficking Heroin, Aggravated Trafficking Crack/Cocaine, Tampering With Evidence, and Obstructing Official Business.

Ross and Campbell were taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center pending the filing of formal charges by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Detectives say they located 47.4 grams of heroin, 14.7 grams of crack, and $660 in cash.
