Two Arrested, One Sought in Connection to Drug Trafficking

MARMETThe METRICH / MARMET Drug Task Force says a two month long investigation culminated Tuesday, April 16, 2013 with the arrest of two individuals and an arrest warrant for a third person. The investigation centered around alleged drug trafficking on Waterloo Street in the City of Marion and was wrapped up following a report of a burglary in progress.

MARMET detectives say they arrested Wyatt Robinson Jr. and Heather Ayers for several counts of trafficking in drugs. The third suspect had not yet been arrested as of Wednesday afternoon.

Around 3:40pm on Tuesday, the Marion Police Department responded to the 800 block of West Center Street for a breaking and entering. Patrol officers say they located Wyatt Robinson inside the vacant building. MARMET detectives soon arrived and, with the assistance of the police officers, say they located a large amount of drugs and money where Robinson was hiding.

Investigators say Robinson and Ayers lived together a short distance away from the reported breaking and entering. Ayers was located in the area, and she was arrested for her role in drug trafficking.

During a search of Robinson’s and of Ayers’ home, a small marijuana grow operation was located, said officials. Detectives also say they found a handgun in the home.

“The group of men and women working for the MARMET / METRICH Drug Task Force is the most dedicated group I have ever worked with,” Lt. Chris Adkins stated. “They are all committed to cracking down on the drugs sales and use in Marion.”

Wyatt Robinson, Jr., 22, was charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs, Trafficking in Heroin, and Breaking and Entering. Heather Ayers, 23, was charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Drugs. Formal charges are pending with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.

Investigators report they seized 38 bindles of heroin, an additional 6.5 grams of heroin, 85 Percocet pills, a hand gun, and $3025 in cash.

Adkins said that anyone wishing to report criminal activity may call the TIPS line at 740-375-8477. Information may be left anonymously.
