Richwood Meth Lab Leads Investigators to Lab in Marion

MARMETThe MARMET Drug Task Force says information obtained following the discovery of a meth lab by the Richwood Police Department helped officers find a lab in an apartment on North Prospect Street in Marion. The discovery marks the second meth lab found in the past three days.

On Thursday, May 2, 2013 at approximately 1:00pm, detectives from the MARMET Drug Task Force and the Richwood Police Department responded to 710 North Prospect Street, Apt. D, regarding a suspected meth lab. When officers checked the apartment, they say they found chemicals and other components used in the production of methamphetamine as well the finished product.

Following the discovery of the chemicals, officers exited the apartment and requested the assistance of Ohio BCI Clandestine Drug Lab Section to assist with the cleanup.

Officers arrested Rick S. Cook, 40, on charges of Illegal Manufacture of Methamphetamine and Illegal Assembly or Possession of Chemicals for Manufacture of Methamphetamine. Investigators say charges for another suspect are pending.

MARMET says this investigation was a spin off related to a meth lab located in Richwood approximately two weeks ago.

“This is the second meth lab located in the City of Marion in three days,” stated Major Bill Collins. “These labs are very toxic and very dangerous. I encourage anyone with information about other suspected labs to contact law enforcement immediately.”
