5k Run/Walk to Benefit Marion Tallgrass Trail

tallgrass-5kLeadership Marion! class of 2013 is organizing the Marion Tallgrass Trail 5k Run/Walk as their culminating project. All proceeds from this race will benefit the Marion Tallgrass Trail, a former railroad converted to recreational use in the nationwide Rails-to-Trails program.

The run/walk will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2013. While most local 5k’s take place on roads, this will take place on the Tallgrass Trail its self, 2093 Holland Rd. West in Marion. A good portion of the run will take place on the unpaved portion of the trail.

Registration the day of the event starts at 8:00 am and the 5k will start at 9:00 am.

Registration is $30. Those pre-registered by June, 21 are guaranteed a shirt.

Hosted by the Marion Area Chamber of Commerce, the yearly Leadership Marion! program is recognized for energizing and educating our community’s current and future leaders.

The Marion Tallgrass Trail was identified by the class as being a crucial asset in improving the quality of life in Marion, Ohio.  From recreation and exercise, to economic development and education, they say a completed Marion Tallgrass Trail will play an incredibly positive role in the community.
