Brumfield Named 2013 Miss Teeny Pop

2013 Miss Teeny Pop and CourtMelanie Brumfield was chosen Miss Teeny Pop 2013 Saturday during competition at River Valley High School.  The 9-year also won overall commercial, as well as her age group in formalwear and talent.  The Heritage Elementary 4th grader said she was “amazed” and “surprised” to win.

“My Mom was Ms. Marion Popcorn Festival last year,” said Brumfield with a grin at her mother.  “I’m happy to have won, too.”

She is the daughter of Steven and Mandi Brumfield of Marion.

As Miss Teeny Pop, Brumfield will be featured at all Festival activities, including the Festival’s Orville Redenbacher Parade and performing from the main stage.  She will also make numerous appearances throughout Ohio during the coming year.

First Runner Up went to 12-year-old Karington Reed.  The Grant Middle School 7th grader also took overall formalwear and overall talent awards.  She is the 12-year-old daughter of Kristin & Vince Reed of Marion.

Ten-year-old Chloe Oliver seized the Second Runner-Up position.  The daughter of Marissa and Douglas Oliver of Marion, she is in the 5th grade at George Washington Elementary School.

Capturing Third Runner Up was Olivia Fogle.  The 11-year-old daughter of Lara and Mike Fogle of Marion is in the 5th grade at Heritage Elementary School.  She won her age division in talent and commercial.

Annika Musser nabbed the Fourth Runner-Up position, as well as her age division in commercial.  The 10-year-old is in the 5th grade at Pleasant Elementary.  She is the daughter of Stephanie Musser and Robert Musser of Marion.

Taking Fifth Runner Up was 10-year-old Sophia Thompson.  The daughter of Michelle Thompson and Doug Thompson of Mt. Gilead, she is in the 5th grade at Park Avenue Elementary School.

Contestants competed in three categories, Formalwear, Talent and Commercial where contestants perform an “advertisement” regarding the Marion Popcorn Festival.   Division winners were:

Receiving Rising Star honorable mention awards were:  Addisen Throckmorton, Marin Curry, Faith Burns, Madisyn Houseworth, Courtnie Bell, Sabrina Clayton, Madeline Swain, Bridget Murphy, and Brooklyn DeGood.

A specialty award was given for program sales, and that went to Olivia Fogle.

Addisen Throckmorton was the winner of the Photogenic Award.  This is a separate competition and entering is optional, and the outcome has no bearing on the Miss Teeny Pop results.  Age division winners were:

  • Age 11-12    Madeline Swain
