Ice Cream Sunday: The 2nd Scoop community worship concert returns to the Palace theatre stage on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at 3:00pm with an ice cream social in the May Pavilion immediately following.
Ice Cream Sunday was first introduced to the public in 2012 with more than 800 people in attendance. For weeks, the Palace staff received phone calls and e-mails requesting a follow up concert. In response to the public’s demand, Palace Theatre Executive Director, Bev Ford and Ice Cream Sunday Director Ryan J Ratliff went back to work and scheduled The 2nd Scoop for 2013.
This year’s concert will feature vocalists and musicians from a number of churches throughout Marion, Ohio and neighboring counties including Abundant Life, Dayspring Wesleyan, Emanuel Lutheran, Epworth United Methodist, First Presbyterian, Grace Brethren of Columbus, Grand Prairie Baptist, Grove City United Methodist, King’s Temple Apostolic, La Rue United Methodist, Prospect Street United Methodist, St. Mary Catholic, and Trinity Baptist.
Under the direction of Ratliff, featured singers (Jami Addison-Rawlins, Daniel Bradshaw, Jeannette Muzzalupo, Natalie Padula-Jensen, Ryan J Ratliff, Dustin Rawlins, Jeffrey Rone, Ann Schertzer) and a 40 member choir will lead the audience in a sing-a-long style concert in addition to soloists, duets, and quartets performing traditional hymns, gospel, and contemporary worship music.
Ratliff issues the following invitation, “This isn’t your Sunday afternoon nap. Come to revive your soul, renew your energy, and tap your toes, while you sit back and sing along, or jump up and dance in the aisles.”
Ryan began singing at the LaRue United Methodist Church. After high school, Ryan attended The Ohio State University then after graduation headed to NYC. Shortly after taking on the Big Apple, Ryan was landing roles in Broadway productions. Never forgetting his roots, Ryan returns to the Marion Palace stage as often as he’s able to entertain his hometown fans, most recently appearing in the January 2013 production of Boardwalk Boys at the Palace. And he’ll be back again in February 2014 for another main stage production, DECADES, featuring Ryan, his Broadway friends and the music of boy bands through the decades.
