Marion Police DepartmentThe Marion Police Department says a man stole a motorhome, rammed it into a Marion pharmacy, and fled officers before being arrested early Tuesday morning.

Officers of the Marion Police Department responded at 2:02 a.m. to an alarm call at the Marion Prescription building on East Center Street. Responding officers discovered a 30′ camper had been rammed into the building. Officers say the Winnebago was initially stuck in the building, but eventually maneuvered its way out. The camper struck a police cruiser as it fled the area and officers fired gunshots at the vehicle’s tires in an attempt to stop it.

Police pursued the camper to the 120 block of Jefferson Street when the camper struck a house. The lone suspect, Christopher W. Lines, 39, of Marion, was apprehended after a brief struggle.

Investigators learned that the Winnebago was stolen earlier in the evening. The theft is being investigated by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Witnesses to the camper theft said that storage units were also broken into and the start of a fire was attempted.

Lines was taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center and charged with breaking and entering, felony fleeing, and several counts of assault on a peace officer.

The Marion Police Department issued thank yous to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol for their assistance in this incident.
