The Marion County Historical Society will take a trip back through time and you are invited to join them this weekend. The 2013 Travel Thru Time event includes Revolutionary War, War of 1812 and Civil War era reenactors as well as period crafters, and historic and modern vendors with goods for sale throughout the park.
The event is planned at Sawyer Ludwig Park in Marion on Saturday, September 21, 2013 from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday, September 22, 2013 from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Admission and activities are free.
There will be wonders of the 18th Century such as the Camera Obscura, Father, Son and Friends will be on hand with their Celtic styled goods, as well as Bear Flag Mercantile with Civil War period goods. Many more vendors will be there with a wide assortment of items. On Saturday and Sunday, guests will be given the opportunity to forage with the 121st Ohio Volunteer Infantry at intervals throughout the day.
When attending this event, visitors will see a multitude of reenactors dressed in period clothing, including Native Americans, Settlers, Militia, Civil War Soldiers and much more. There will be vendors and craftspeople demonstrating many skills that were necessary for life on the frontier. Event guests will be engaged by blacksmithing, broom making, rope making, soap making, hands-on exhibits, tomahawk and knife throwing demonstrations, a trading post, and much more.
Free samples of venison stew and parched corn will be available for the tasting and there will also be more historic and contemporary food available for purchase.
