Local Kids will Trick-or-Treat Thursday, Sheriff Deputies will be Watching

Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey announced his office will be participating in a countywide traffic detail targeting speed and alcohol related violations for Halloween.  Deputies will be conducting extra traffic enforcement and patrol on Thursday, October 31, 2013 for Trick-or-Treat night.  In an effort to ensure the safety of the motoring public, the sheriff’s office will be enforcing a Zero Tolerance Policy on speeding, drunk driving, and seatbelt violations.

Trick or Treat around the area will be held Thursday at the following times.

  • Caledonia, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
  • Green Camp, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • LaRue, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Marion City & Township, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • Prospect, 5:00 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Waldo, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Participating homes should turn on their porch lights. Kids should be escorted by an adult, stay on sidewalks and should have something reflective on them or carry a flashlight.

The extra patrol activities by the sheriff’s office were made possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Governor’s Highway Safety Office. The grant was awarded to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office in a continued effort to lower traffic accidents related to alcohol, speed, and seatbelt violations.

Motorists are to expect to see deputies enforcing traffic safety countywide. Marion County residents are urged to obey traffic laws to ensure a safe and enjoyable Halloween.
