The Marion Palace Theatre will show the dramatic film “Lee Daniels’ The Butler” on October 18, 19, 20, 2013.
Inspired by a true story, The Weinstein Company describes the film as a story of a White House butler who served seven American presidents over three decades. The film traces the dramatic changes that swept American society during this time, from the civil rights movement to Vietnam and beyond, and how those changes affected this man’s life and family.
Forest Whitaker stars as the butler with Robin Williams as Dwight Eisenhower, James Marsden as John F. Kennedy, Liev Schreiber as Lyndon B. Johnson, John Cusack as Richard Nixon, and Alan Rickman as Ronald Reagan. The movie boasts an all-star cast which includes Oprah Winfrey, Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard, Mariah Carey, Jane Fonda, and many more.
This film is rated PG-13 for some violence and disturbing images, language, sexual material, thematic elements and smoking and runs 2 hours, 12 minutes.
“Lee Daniels’ The Butler” will play at the Marion Palace Theatre Friday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, October 20 at 7:30 p.m. There will not be a 2:00 p.m. showing on Sunday afternoon. Tickets are $4/Adults, $3/Seniors (62 & over), $2/Children (12 and under).
