Women’s Business Council to Look at Self-Awareness, Self-Defense

The October luncheon program for the Marion Women’s Business Council, Inc. will center on Self Defense for Women. Jeannie Brewer is certified through I.M.P.A.C.T. as an instructor. I.M.P.A.C.T. is a person safety, assertiveness and self-defense training program. Brewer will demonstrate self-awareness, home and vehicle safety and techniques tailored to women.

Brewer was a State Trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for several years before starting her family. She has worked for the City of Marion for the past 22 years, beginning in the Municipal Court as its first probation officer/community service coordinator. She later moved into the position of head bailiff for Judge Finnegan at Municipal Court and then onto the Recreation Director.  During her time as Recreation Director, she implemented various programs for youth and adults alike. One of which was Self Defense for Women.

The luncheon meeting will be Monday, October 14 at the TRECA Building, 100 Executive Drive, Marion. The program is slated to start with networking at 11:30 a.m. Interested potential new WBC members may check out the day’s luncheon for half price – $6 instead of $13 with an RSVP.

If interested in attending the luncheon, you should make reservations by calling Jeri Hartshorn 740-387-6312 or Jean Obenour 740-387-3788.  The luncheon price will be $13 with the deadline for reservations Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
