The Marion County Park District is urging the public to stop by an open house on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 and provide feedback and suggestions about the Marion Tallgrass Trail. The public comments are an important part of the grant process and can give the local project a boost against other proposals.
The park district has obtained a grant that will allow the paving of approximately three miles of trail in 2014, and is now applying for a grant to pave three more miles (miles 4 to 6) in 2015. As part of that process, the park district is seeking public feedback and suggestions.
The feedback session will be in a conference room at the Marion Family YMCA from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This is a “stop in when you can” session. Visitors are invited to stop in, review the plans, provide comments, have a snack, and leave at their convenience.
The park district expects that miles 4 through 6 will stretch from the area of Hickory Grove Lake Campground to near Agosta-Meeker Road.
