Marion Technical College (MTC) is pleased to announce the recent promotion of Dr. Vicky Wood to the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs. In this role, Dr. Wood will serve as the Chief Academic Officer responsible for all programs, curriculum and instruction, and high-level functions of the College including strategic planning and policy development.
Wood is a loyal, 29-year veteran employee of the institution. With her years of experience she brings valuable insight of the College’s history as well as an exciting, fresh look for the future. Her obvious vested interested in education is something that she has personally achieved as well. She started her higher education at Marion Technical College where she earned an associate of business degree, proceeded with a bachelor’s from Ashland University, a master’s from Bowling Green State University, and earned her Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Higher Education Leadership from The University of Toledo.
Wood earned her new position upon the retirement of her predecessor, Dennis Budkowski who retired after serving 37 years at Marion Technical College.
“It was an easy decision to promote Dr. Wood to the Vice President position,” College President, Dr. Richard Bryson said. “She has worked hard and been a valuable asset to the college. I’m excited to see what Vicky will do in her new position.”
Vicky has not only been an instrumental part of Marion Technical College, she has promoted the quality of the MTC learning environment to family and friends in the community. Her husband, Rodney, received an accounting degree from MTC and her children, Morgan and Colin, started their college experience at MTC through the Post-Secondary Enrollment Option (PSEO) and successfully transferred to their respective 4-year institutions. Her third child, Ryan, will enroll in MTC through the PSEO program when he is a junior in high school.
“I am both grateful and excited for this opportunity,” Wood said of her promotion. “I have enjoyed my career at Marion Technical College and believe deeply in its mission and the value of higher education. I look forward to continuing to work with MTC’s exceptional faculty and administration in my new role and I plan to do all I can to continue the College’s tradition of success and leadership in our Community.”
