Rep. McClain Named Chairman of Ohio House Ways and Means

Jeff McClainSpeaker of the Ohio House William G. Batchelder (R-Medina) recenlty announced that he has appointed Rep. Jeff McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) as the new chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. The House Ways and Means Committee chiefly works on taxation and budgetary issues.

“Having served as a county auditor for more than 26 years, Rep. McClain is perfectly equipped to lead the important work of the House Ways and Means Committee,” Speaker Batchelder said. “I am honored that he has agreed to take on this very important role for the remainder of this session and I look forward to working with him in this new capacity.”

Rep. McClain, who represents Crawford, Morrow, and Wyandot Counties along with northern and north-eastern Marion County, is serving his third term in the Ohio House.  In addition to serving as Chairman of Ways and Means, he will remain as a member of the House Finance and Appropriations Committee, where he has served as vice chair for the past three years.

In his tenure as a representative, McClain has been named a “Friend of Agriculture” by the Ohio Farm Bureau, awarded the “Watchdog of the Treasury” award in 2010 and 2012 by the United Conservatives of Ohio, and was named the “Elected Official of the Year” by the Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging, as well as the Ohio Association of Area Agencies on Aging.
