Art Fair to Include Poetry Extravaganza

Mid-Ohio Fine Arts SocietyThe Mid-Ohio Fine Arts Society and the Historic Women’s Club Home present “Tittle Tattle & Truth”, a Spring Poetry Extravaganza as part of the WCH Spring Fling Art Fair on Saturday, May 10, 2014. Poets of all types will begin performing and reading from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Open mic sessions will also be offered periodically for poets or aspiring poets who are not on the schedule.

An line-up of regional, statewide and local talent will be performing and reading original work.

Readers and performers include Karen VanCleve, who will read original work written by her son Eric VanCleve. Eric passed away in 2008 at the age of 25, just after he finished his Master’s degree in Fine Arts / Writing. His mother continues reading his poetry for others to enjoy.

Other performers include

  • local pianist James Besch with Jazz Trio,
  • award winning Slam Master Beverly Wilkenson,
  • Ohio Arts Council member, author & Poet Paula J. Lambert,
  • winner of the Akron Museum of Art’s New Words competition, Clarissa Jackobsons,
  • Salon Chap book competition winner & Push Cart Nominee, Beverly Zimmer,
  • Writers Block 2014 representative in the Women of the World Poetry Slam Betsy Clark,
  • former Marionite, poet, author, and Writers Block National Poetry Slam team member Alexis Mitchell Tremain,
  • Marion poets Michael Stout, Ashley Mullins, Sheri Wise, Michael Veloff, Brandon Crittendon and April Honaker.

Books of poetry, chap books and other items will be available for sale at the Mid-Ohio Fine Art Society (MOFAS) booth.

The public is invited to visit the WCH Art Fair and Sale any time during the day which is filled with vendors, arts, crafts, food and all types of entertainment. Admission is free.
