ConAgra Announces Closure of Marion, Morral Plants

PrintOfficials at ConAgra Foods said they informed employees today that they would close their plants in Marion and Morral. The Marion plant is scheduled to close in October of 2014. The Morral plant is scheduled to close a year from now, on or around the end of June 2015.

“We care very much about our employees and we are committed to treating people fairly and with respect. Employees will receive at least 60 days of notice of their official separation date,” stated the company in a media release.

The closures will affect about 160 employees at the Marion plant and about 10 at the Morral plant.

Officials said that popcorn operations from the closing facilities will transition into other plants in ConAgra Foods that have similar capabilities to “allow for more efficient business operations within our plant network.”
