National HIV Testing Day (NHTD) is an annual campaign to encourage people of all ages to “Take the Test, Take Control.” Marion Public Health will be offering free and anonymous walk-in HIV testing Friday, June 27, 2014 from 8:00am to 3:00pm.
“Too many people don’t know they have HIV. In the United States, nearly 1.1 million people are living with HIV, and almost one in six don’t know they are infected,” explained MPH’s Kristy Lee. “Getting tested is the first step to finding out if you have HIV. If you have HIV, getting medical care and taking medicines regularly helps you live a longer, healthier life and also lowers the chances of passing HIV on to others.”
In addition to this special event, Marion Public Health offers ongoing, free HIV testing as well as counseling and support services. You can get more information on their website.
Marion Public Health is located at 181 South Main Street in Marion.
