The Marion Area Chamber of Commerce participated in a ribbon cutting for ECO Center, LLC, on Wednesday, August 20, 2014. ECO Center, LLC is an outdoor education center located at 1757 County Road 59 in Caledonia, OH. On September 6th, 2014 they are opening their doors to the public with the launch of its first annual Fall Festival.
The Fall Festival hours will be 11 am-5 pm on Saturdays and 12-5 pm on Sundays through November 2.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide a safe, fun, and educational space for the families in Marion and surrounding counties,” said Emily Ollervides, owner of ECO Center.
Ollervides said that ECO Center was created with the vision of Educating Children Outdoors and offers dozens of activities and opportunities for children to learn, play, and interact in a safe, educational, outdoor setting.
The Fall Festival features two mini zip lines, a playground made with up-cycled materials, a petting zoo, chicken run, pumpkin patch, tricycle track, tile slide, butterfly garden, an interpretative trail, fire pit, barrel train ride, 400 bale straw fort and a giant corn box. A concession stand is located in the barn where food, dessert, and refreshments can be purchased.
Admission price also includes an educational scavenger hunt and unlimited access to the activities. Cash entrance prices are $10 for children (3 to 17yrs) and $7 for adults (18-54), guests 55+ are $4, and children 2 years and under are free.
In the spring of 2015, they plan to offer specialized environmental education classes to complement science and natural sciences curriculum for school groups K-12.
“We believe that outdoor experience for youth is crucial to creating a relationship with the surrounding world, one that ultimately impacts environmental choices,” said Ollervides.
