Marion Police Department Says Goodbye to 25-Year Veteran

Tim RoweThe Marion Police Department said that Friday, August 1, 2014 was Officer Tim Rowe’s last day with their organization, capping off a 25-year career. Originally hired as a police officers on July 2, 1989, he served in many different capacities at the police department during his career.

Rowe was a Field Training Officer from 1992 to 2000, a member of Marion County’s first SRT unit, serving on that unit from 1996 to 2001, and a Detective from 2004 to 2006.

Rowe was also in charge of the police department’s indoor gun range from 2004 to 2014 and assisted in starting up the police department’s rifle program in 2007. He had over 600 hours of advanced training in his 25 year career and was an instructor for handgun, rifle, and shotgun.

Rowe received the Meritorious Service Class A award in 1990 from a knife attack and a Class C award involving a serious domestic call. He retired with ribbons for community service, good conduct, and marksman. He also received several letters of commendation.
