Barricades will be erected on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the end of the currently paved section (at the first bridge) of the Marion Tallgrass Trail. The closed section of trail will extend across Herr Road and State Route 203 to Espyville Road.
This partial closure will protect trail visitors while Kokosing Construction Company prepares and builds approximately three miles of multi-use recreational trail. The project is expected to be completed by early November of this year.
The trailhead parking lot and the 1/4 mile portion of trail that is already paved will remain open.
The Marion Tallgrass Trail is a property of the Marion County Park District, and will eventually extend 12.4 miles along the abandoned Erie-Lackawanna Railroad line to the Hardin County line.
