A joint investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion Police Department continued their investigation into a rash of burglaries by making another arrest on Tuesday and recovering additional stolen property.
On December 30, 2014, Tyler Lane, 27, of 175 Curtis Court in Marion was arrested and the allegedly stolen property was recovered at his address.
Investigators said that evidence recovered connects Lane to Stephanie Malo and Rachel Young, the burglary suspects arrested in Delaware on Monday. They said that evidence recovered Tuesday links Lane to at least five burglaries committed in the City of Marion and the investigation continues.
“The common thread in these burglaries is that the victim’s homes were unlocked or had substandard locks,” said Major Jay McDonald of the Marion Police Department. “Citizen’s can protect themselves from thieves by always remembering to keep their homes secured. They can also protect themselves by keeping a list of serial numbers of valuable property that is often stolen, such as firearms, electronics and tools. Photographs of jewelry and other items without serial numbers should be taken as well.”
This investigation continues. Anyone with information connected to these or any other crimes is urged to call the Marion Police Department or the TIPS Line at 740-375-TIPS.
