Downtown Marion is set to host a variety of Christmas activities this Saturday, December 6, 2014, including the annual Peanut Push, Santa, and several free events for kids.
The annual WMRN Peanut Push benefits the Christmas Clearing House and starts at 10:00 a.m. Competitors will race to push a peanut across West Center Street (just west of Prospect Street) using just their nose. Of course, the racers tend to get creative with how they manage the task.
Hot chocolate and ornament and face painting will be offered for free at APEX Church’s Kidz Center (Center & Prospect Streets) from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Winter Fest will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. featuring Santa, roving bands, carolers, miniature horses, and more.
A free showing of “Lego Movie” will be offered at the Marion Palace Theatre at 1:00 p.m. Sponsored by Kohl’s, Genesis Presidential Health Care, The Palace Theatre and Downtown Marion.
Downtown Marion will also host a couple more upcoming activities for the holidays, including:
- Under the Christmas Tree Auction – Thursday, December 11, 5:30 p.m., Park Place
an auction with lots of unique gifts to put under your tree
Tickets are $30 each; $50 per couple & include heavy appetizers. - Church Tours – Friday, December 12, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m.; 8 historic churches;
Wagon rides; live reindeer and more – Tickets are $10 adults, $2 kids - New Year’s Eve Pop N Drop – Tuesday, December 31 free
