In anticipation of the upcoming 2015 The Who Hits 50 North American tour, the Marion Palace Theatre is bringing a tribute to the legendary rock ‘n’ roll band to the stage on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 8:00 p.m.
For more than a decade The Who Show has been “thrilling audiences” as they perform note for note Who renditions. Wearing genuine costumes and using vintage instruments, the group recreates a Who concert experience from the 1970s and captures the “individual stage personas, idiosyncrasies and showmanship” (Music Connection Magazine) of one of the most influential bands in rock ‘n’ roll history.
The Who Show was cast in starring roles as The Who in the 2005/06 stage production premiere run of “Quadrophenia,” which was a box office and critical smash hit. Permanent band members Chris Propper (as Pete Townshend), Jim Kennelly (as John Entwistle), France DiCarlo (as Keith Moon) and Jay Stevens (as Roger Daltrey), have honed their show to become what critics acknowledge being one of the most spectacular tribute shows in the world and earning the title of VH1’s“Most Believable ‘Who’ Tribute Band in the World.”
“I wanted people to see the characters and the costumes and feel like they are watching the next best thing to the real band,” says Who Show founder and drummer DiCarlo. “There are a lot of tribute bands out there, and a lot of these bands aren’t ones that many people know the characters.”
Fans agree. While many tribute bands duplicate the appearance and sound, The Who Show, “takes the extra step to capture the magic, energy and essence of The Who” (San Diego Union-Tribune).
The Who Show covers all the songs The Who had in its catalog including “Pinball Wizard,” “My Generation,” “Long Live Rock,” “Who Are You,” “You Better You Bet” and “Eminence Front” to name a few.
The Who Show performs at the Marion Palace Theatre stage on Saturday, January 17 at 8 p.m. Reserved seating tickets are $20, $24, $28. Support received by Simcote. Sponsored by and funded by Ohio Arts Council.
