The Palace Cultural Arts Association will present Casey Abrams at the historic Marion Palace Theatre located in downtown Marion, Ohio on Saturday, May 2. 2015 at 8:00 p.m.
Abrams, a season 10 stand-out finalist, impressed American Idol audiences each week with his spirited personality and his mastery of instruments – most notably, the stand-up bass.
The 24 year old singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist released his self-titled debut album in 2012. The predominately Pop album features 20 cuts in which Abrams co-wrote, sang, played bass, acoustic guitar, drums, Wurlitzer electric piano and even the recorder.
A true musical free-spirit, Abrams doesn’t confine himself to one music genre. In past concerts he has awed audiences with radio-favorite covers by Maroon 5, Santana and Sam Smith in his own unique style, scatting along to an upright double bass, and also, when he slips into his jazz shoes, playing Sam Cooke standards such as “Hit the Road Jack” and “St. Thomas.”
To Abrams, performing and listening to a variety of styles is the best way to experience music. Abrams recently shared in an interview,
“It [music] is definitely my happy place. It feels great to be on stage and have people digging what you are doing and it’s so easy — all you have to do is be happy on stage,” he said, adding that his time on the Idol stage gave him the confidence to do just that. “I think the key to having a good show is being super duper happy — you smile and they’ll smile. It’s the secret of life and music — don’t be afraid to show your happiness.”
