Tallgrass Trail hosting Monarchs and Milkweeds Program

The Marion County Park District will host a free educational program titled “Monarchs and Milkweeds” at 10 am Saturday, May 2, 2015 at the Tallgrass Trail.

The population of monarch butterflies has dropped precipitously in the last several decades. Gale Martin, owner of Natives in Harmony Nursery, will explain some of the reasons for this decline, and will explain what actions people can take to help the monarch population rebound.

Martin will explain the intriguing connection between monarch butterflies and milkweed plants, and will give a free milkweed plant to each attendee.

Attendees are invited to enjoy the Tallgrass Trail after the program.

The Tallgrass Trail is located at 2093 Holland Rd. W. Marion, Ohio. (Go west on St Rt 309 from Marion, and turn left on Holland Road. The trail is near the bend where Holland Road transitions from an east-west road to a north-south road).
