The Palace Cultural Arts Association (PCAA) is pleased to announce it recently received a $3,500 grant from FirstEnergy Foundation. This donation will help fund the Marion Palace Theatre’s ReLight the Marquee Campaign project, which is currently underway.

The necessary renovations will restore safety and preserve the historic 1928 design by reconstructing the grand entrance, façade wall and horizontal canopy marquee as well as replacing the structural steel and the 50-foot PALACE blade sign with environmentally friendly update of 900 lighting components.

The total cost of the renovation is approximately $1.8 million, with more than $1.6 million raised so far.

“We greatly appreciate the generosity of community partners such as the FirstEnergy Foundation who are making it possible for the theatre to see this crucial project come to fruition,” said Bev Ford, Executive Director of the Marion Palace Theatre. “We are pleased to announce our target date to have renovations complete is Dec. 31.”

FirstEnergy Foundation’s focus is on organizations within the service area that improve the vitality of the community, promote local and regional economic development, advance an educated workforce by supporting STEM initiatives, and support FirstEnergy employees’ community leadership and volunteer interests.
