Marion Public Library will host their annual Summer Reading Celebration from 10AM-3PM on Saturday, June 6, 2015 which is the official kickoff for summer programming at the Library. A day of games, events, and live music is planned and kids will be able to sign up for Summer Reading Club, an annual program that encourages reading while school is out of session.
This year’s theme is “Every Hero Has a Story”.
Indoor and outdoor games and crafts will be featured from 10AM-11AM and 2PM-3PM. Kids will be able to “touch-a-truck” from 10AM-1PM, and live music will be provided by the L.A. Band, a funk and blues group that covers a wide variety of artists, from the Doobie Brothers to Pharrell Williams. Their performance will start at 1PM and go till 3PM. Marion’s newest food truck, “The State of the Sandwich”, will be on hand selling food and refreshments, with sandwich creations specially crafted for young readers.
