The Longest Day is a team event to raise funds and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Association®. Held annually on the summer solstice, the duration of this sunrise-to-sunset event symbolizes the challenging journey of those living with the disease and their caregivers.
To that end, the Marion Senior Center is teaming up with Interim Healthcare to host their very own “The Longest Day” event, titled “Coffee, Cookies & Celebrity Chats”. The event will be hosted at the Senior Center on Friday, June 19th from 8 am – 4 pm.
There will be plenty of coffee available, compliments of Tim Horton’s, along with fresh-baked cookies and lots of great conversation.
The list of celebrity guests include 40th Treasurer of the United States Mary Ellen Withrow, Marion’s Mayor Scott Schertzer, revered broadcast personality Charlie Evers (WWGH), meteorologist Bob Nunnally (NBC4), local historian Phil Reid, Marion County Commissioners Andy Appelfeller, Dan Russell and Ken Stiverson, and special guest Grouch Marx (via impersonator Fred Malone).
Attendees will have a chance to chat with these celebrities over coffee, along with a few others, throughout the day. Lunch will also be available that day, served a la carte beginning at 11:30 am.
All proceeds raised from this fun event will go to the Alzheimer’s Association.
