Several Marion area residents have traveled north to Upper Sandusky this summer to take part in the portrayal of the classic comedy/drama Hello Dolly directed by Marion resident Scott Persinger.

Portraying the lead as matchmaker Dolly Levi, is Julie McGinnis. Hailie Crowder (Irene Molloy), Mallory Gleespan (Minnie Fay) and Elissa Crowder (Ermengarde) join the cast as girls looking to marry for love and money.  Rounding out the cast are Maddie Gleespan (Chorus) Elyssa Sayre (Chorus) and Marissa Pratt (Chorus).

Heather Bryant is quite busy during the show as she is the assistant director, back stage manager and you will see her on the stage as Ernestina and the judge.  Directing the music and playing the piano for the show is Kathy Hill.

Hello Dolly tells the story of a meddlesome matchmaker, Dolly Levi, who brings together the young clerk of a wealthy Yonkers merchant and his assistant with a widowed milliner and her assistant, while making sure she herself gets to marry the merchant, Horace Vandergelder, in Jerry Herman and Michael Stewart’s musical adaptation of Thornton Wilder’s The Matchmaker. Classic musical numbers from the show include: Put On Your Sunday Clothes, Ribbons Down My Back, Before the Parade Passes By, Elegance, It Only Takes A Moment and So Long, Dearie.

Performances are July 31, August 1, August 7, and August 8 at 7:30p and August 2 and August 9 at 2:00p.  Tickets are $12 for members of The Star Theater and $15 for non members and may be reserved by calling 419-294-1411 or emailing [email protected].

The box office at 121 West Wyandot Avenue in Upper Sandusky will be open to pick out your tickets on Tuesday and Thursday from 4-6:30p and on Wednesday from 5p-8p.
