Police arrest two for manufacturing meth in Marion

On January 19, 2016, Detectives with the METRICH/MARMET Drug Task Force, assisted by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification (BCI) and the Marion Police Department, executed a search warrant 634 Pearl Street in the City of Marion as part of an investigation into the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Arrested in this investigation were the two residents of 634 Pearl, Richard Sobers, age 29, and Tasha Sobers, age 31. Each was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine (F2), Possession of Heroin (F4) and Manufacturing Methamphetamine (F2).

“MARMET is very aggressive in terms of investigating those who make meth in our community,” said Major Jay McDonald of the Marion Police Department. “Obviously, this drug is very dangerous for those who consume it but it is also extremely dangerous for those who live in the vicinity of where it is made.”

“We hope that these arrests send a signal to others that think they want to make meth that law enforcement will find you and arrest you if you choose to take that path.”
