Ohio State Marion welcomes Nora Flanagan, Sexual Assault Response Coordinator of Delaware and Morrow Counties & HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow Counties, Inc. as keynote speaker for their 2016 Human Trafficking Forum. The forum will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 12:30 p.m., in Morrill Hall, Room 224 on the Marion Campus. The forum is free and open to the public.
Flanagan is a first responder to hospitals and law enforcement for sexual assault survivors, and acts as a long term advocate for survivors managing the aftermath of sexual trauma, assisting them through medical, housing, legal issues. She also participates in The Delaware County Coalition of Victim Services, Delaware County Sexual Assault Task Force, Morrow County Sexual Assault Task Force, Delaware County Crime Justice Administrators, and the Sexual Response Network of Central Ohio. In addition, Flanagan facilitates two support groups: one in Delaware County; and one in Morrow County, called The Healing Circle, for survivors of sexual assault.
The forum is and educational outreach for professionals, community organizations, and survivors and co-survivors. Organizers from The Ohio State University at Marion Office of Student Life and the Griffin Honor Society urge the community to attend, emphasizing that human trafficking does take place in Marion, as well as communities throughout Ohio, and the country.
The goal of the forum is to advocate, educate and protect the community from the dangers of human trafficking. Lunch will be provided free for those in attendance.
