Blough, Murray, Matthews named Republicans of the Month

Three have been named Republican of the Month by the Marion County Central and Executive Committee. Scott Blough was selected for February, Kerr Murray for March and Susan Matthews for April.

Blough is an associate professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Executive Director for the Center for Cyber Defense and Forensics at Tiffin University where he specializes in policy development, corrections and international crime.

Prior to this appointment, he served as the Chief of Adult Detention in the Ohio Department  of Rehabilitation and Correction, where he had oversight of over 250 jails throughout Ohio. He served as a lieutenant on the Marion Police Department where he conducted numerous gang, drug and gambling investigations. He is the author of numerous publications as well as being a featured lecturer for the National Institute of Corrections.

Scott is married to Faline Curren Blough and the couple has three children.  He is a candidate for Marion County Sheriff on the November ballot.

Murray had a 31 year career as a purchasing manager at GTE, Ft. Wayne, Ind. and spent 12 years as regional sales manager at Alcatel Fiber Optics Systems.  A Marion Harding High School graduate, he attended The Ohio State University.

A U.S. Army veteran, he served in the Viet Nam era.  His civic involvement includes being a R.H.A.M. board member, a EFSP chairman in United Way, Marion County Republican Central and Executive Committee and Republican Club member, and volunteers with Habitat for Humanity, Marion City Schools and church functions.

The candidate for Marion County Commissioner on the November ballot, and Murray and his wife, Sharon, are members of Salem United Methodist Church.  They have two daughters, a son and five grandchildren.

A Marionite, Matthews graduated from Wynford High School and holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. She is employed with the Marion County Family/Probate Courts.  Her hobbies include gardening, photography and serves as  president of the Marion Area Genealogy Society.  Involved in Boy Scouts she serves on her son’s troop committee while he is seeking to earn is Eagle Scout awards as her other two sons attained.

A member of the Marion County Republican Women’s Club and the Republican Club, Matthews and her husband, John, Marion County GOP chairman, are involved in numerous party activities.  The family resides in Marion County.
