Marion County Park District announces May events

The Marion County Park District has announced the following events are to be offered in May 2016.

• Friday, May 6 at the Tallgrass Trail Nature Center, 2093 Holland Road West, Marion
  2 to 7 p.m.: Nature Center open.
  7 p.m.: Frog and Toad Presentation
  8:30pm: Night hike on the Tallgrass Trail. Flashlights are optional, but if you bring one, it must project red light.
• Saturday, May 7 at the Tallgrass Trail Nature Center:
  9-10:30am: Birding and Breakfast. Enjoy coffee and donuts from 9-9:30 a.m., then join Naturalist James Anderson for a bird watching session. There will be a free will donation to help cover food costs.
  11:00-12:00: Take a hike on the Tallgrass Trail with Naturalist James Anderson
  1:00pm: Pond Study
• Tuesday, May 10: 1-5pm Tallgrass Trail Nature Center Open
  5-6 p.m.: Habitat class at Tallgrass Trail
• Thursday, May 12: 1-5 pm: Tallgrass Trail Nature Center Open
  5 p.m.: Colorful Critters, the Art of Survival Program at Tallgrass Trail
• Saturday, May 14: 9 am to noon: Tallgrass Trail Nature Center open.
  10 to 11:30 am: Invasive Plant Species Program at Tallgrass Trail.
• Tuesday, May 17: 4 to 5 p.m.: Join Volunteer Naturalist Heidi Slagle as she shares all about ants at Tallgrass Trail! Play a game, make a craft, listen to a story all while learning about our little crawly friend. Geared toward preschool but all ages are welcome.
• Thursday, May 19, 4 to 5 p.m.: Join Mrs. Slagle for a family program about beavers at the Tallgrass Trail. Geared for all ages.
• Friday, May 20, 1 to 6 p.m.: Tallgrass Trail Nature Center open.
  6-7pm (Tallgrass Trail Nature center) Learn how to attract birds.
• Saturday, May 21: 9 to 11 am: Take a leisurely bicycle ride on the Tallgrass Trail with naturalist James Anderson.
  1 to 2 p.m.: Wildflower program at Myers Woods
• Friday, May 27: 1 to 6 pm: Tallgrass Trail Nature Center open.
  6pm: Skull program at the Tallgrass Trail Nature Center.
• Tuesday, May 31: 10 am: Listen to Naturalist James Anderson on Morning Magazine on 1490-AM.
  Noon to 6 p.m.: Tallgrass Trail Nature Center open.
  6 p.m.: Snakes of Ohio presentation at the Tallgrass Trail.

All programs are free of charge, unless otherwise noted. Please note that programs may be cancelled due to weather. If programs are cancelled, we will post a notice the Marion County Park District and Tallgrass Trail Facebook pages.
