OhioHealth was recently named one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For” for the tenth consecutive year by FORTUNE Magazine. This list, now in its 19th year, recognizes companies that have exceptional workplace cultures.
OhioHealth is one of just two healthcare systems headquartered in Ohio to make the list. Two other non-healthcare related companies in Ohio also made the cut. Nationally, 10 health systems or hospitals were recognized.
“OhioHealth is the second largest employer in Marion with more than 1,600 associates, physicians, and advanced practice providers,” said Janie Jewett, director, Human Resources for OhioHealth. “In Marion, OhioHealth includes Marion General Hospital, Marion Area Physicians, OhioHealth Radiation Oncology, and OhioHealth Home Care. It’s exciting to know that we provide employment opportunities for Marion area residents that are great jobs that people enjoy. Every day I think of dozens of reasons why I love working here. I love that our staff feel that way too.“
Great Place to Work®, creators of the methodology behind the list, have found that employees believe they work for great organizations when they consistently trust the people they work for, have pride in what they do and enjoy the people they work with.
Applicant companies opt to participate in the selection process by submitting a lengthy application including an employee survey and in-depth questionnaire about their programs and company practices.
Great Place to Work® then evaluates each application using its unique methodology based on five dimensions: credibility, respect, fairness, pride and, camaraderie.
“It’s rewarding to know that our associates find satisfaction in their jobs,” said Bruce Hagen, president, OhioHealth Marion General Hospital. “Marion General Hospital has been part of OhioHealth since 1987 and throughout these years, Marion associates have played a key role in helping us to create a culture of integrity, compassion, excellence and stewardship – toward each other, our patients and our community. Being a Best Company to Work For cements the fact that these are not just words, but values that our associates take to heart. It really is a reflection on how all of our associates, physicians, and volunteers work together.”
The FORTUNE Great Place to Work Institute Trust Index© survey that several hundred randomly chosen OhioHealth associates took part in anonymously last summer, evaluates the strength and health of OhioHealth’s culture compared to other FORTUNE Best Companies.
