The Marion County Sheriff’s Office says that a six month old died on Sunday after allegedly being assaulted by his mother on Friday.
On June 17, 2016 at 2:34pm, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call requesting a medical squad at 1571 Southland Parkway in Marion. The caller reported that the subject was not breathing. A Marion Township Squad and deputy were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival it was found to be an infant who was unresponsive and was transported to Marion General Hospital and then transported by MedFlight to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. It was determined at that time the six month old infant was in critical condition and not expected to survive.
A Marion County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant and a case worker from Marion County Children Services traveled to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for further investigation. The mother of the child, 26-year-old Tequila Rena Mannering, who resides with the child at 1571 Southland Parkway, was brought to the sheriff’s office for questioning.
Officials said it was determined the child had been allegedly assaulted by Mannering who was then arrested for aggravated assault and endangering children. Investigators declined to elaborate on the nature of the assault.
Marion County Children Services took Mannering’s other child, a three year old into their custody.
On Sunday, June 19, 2016, the Sheriff’s Office was notified that the six month old child, Aaden Lee Mannering, had passed away.
