Marion Palace Theatre seeks volunteers for technical positions

Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 6 p.m. in the Palace Theatre Rotary Room, Palace Theatre Technical Director Mark Meginness along with Palace Volunteer Advisory Committee Members, will meet with potential Palace volunteers interested in technical positions.

The Palace hopes to build a volunteer corps with people ranging from juniors in high school to retirees that wish to give back to the community.

This training session will last approximately one hour and cover the various ways volunteers can lend a helping hand back stage including running a spot light, light board and sound board as well as the tasks involved in helping backstage and on the pin rail. No previous knowledge is necessary.

Volunteering at the Palace benefits not only the theatre but also those giving of their time and efforts. Many area high schools require community service hours for graduation. Community involvement plays a significant role in college and employment applications. It also serves as a social tool for networking and even making new friends.

Interested participants and those with questions are asked to contact Jill Rinker by phone at 740/383-2101 to reserve a space for this orientation.
