Campus musical comedy, “Sugar,” opens November 3rd

sugar logoThe Ohio State University at Marion’s performing arts and entertainment series Five Nights on Campus will present the student based Broadway musical comedy, Sugar, Thursday, November 3 and Friday, November 4, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in Morrill Hall Auditorium.

Based on the Billy Wilder film, “Some Like It Hot,” starring Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, and Marilyn Monroe, Sugar chronicles the zany lives of two musicians from the prohibition era who witness a gang slaying. Forced to disguise themselves as women, they join an all-female orchestra, and the games begin.  “Penniless Bums,” “The Beauty That Drives Men Mad,” “We Could Be Close,” “Doin’ It for Sugar,” “What Do You Give (To a Man Who Has Everything?),” “Beautiful Through and Through,” and “November Song.”  Sugar opened on Broadway in 1972 and was nominated for 4 Tony awards in 1973.

The musical is directed locally by Scott Persinger, Assistant Director Brea Turner; and Music Director Kelly Culler.  Kim Bradshaw serves as the productions choreographer, and Kathy Hill as the production pianist.

Advance tickets for Sugar are now available by calling 740-725-6340 or at the door the evening of the event, while they last.  Tickets are $15 general admission, and $10 for students and seniors (60 & up).
