Historic Women’s Club Home announces 2016 Fall events, seek craft show vendors

The fall is a busy time at the Historic Women’s Club Home. The club says they are hard at work establishing programming and activities that directly impact the mission of the group to preserve the historic home and provide enriching and empowering activities for the women of Marion County.

October will be the premier for the Women’s Book Club.  The book being discussed will be “The Invisible Woman, Taking on the Vintage Years” by Helen Walmsley-Johnson. Walmsley-Johnson writes “The Vintage Years” column for the Guardian in London, England.  The book teaches women how to enjoy, grow and thrive in the ageing process rather than merely endure.  The discussion will explore if sixty really is the new forty.

The Women’s Book Club will meet at the Historic Women’s Club Home, 1126 East Center Street, on October 11 and 18 at 7PM.  This event is free and open to women of the community.

October 15, 2016 will be a Gardening and Yard work day at the home from 8:30-1200.  Women of the community are welcome to come and help prepare the yard and flower beds for winter.  Bring your gloves and favorite gardening tools for a day playing in nature and the leaves.

November 12, 2016 will be the Annual Holiday Craft Fair at the home from 9:00-3:00.  Vendors are currently being registered for space on a first come, first serve basis.  Table rental is $20.  Contact Lannette Davis at 740-225-2224 with questions or visit the Women’s Club Home Website at www.marioncountyfederationofwomensclubs.com or Facebook page: Historic Women’s Club Home.

November 27, 2016, at 7PM will be the annual “Deck the Halls” gathering at the home to complete decorating for the Christmas season.  If you have a flair for decorating, you are invited to join them.

December 15, 2016 will be the Women’s Club member Christmas Gathering. Details are forthcoming.

If you are interested in any of the activities or becoming a member of the club, contact the home at 740-387-1366 or Sharol Herr at 614-596-0346.
