Delbert A. Snyder, 83, of Marengo

Delbert A. Snyder, age 83 of Marengo passed away Thursday morning, June 3, 2010 at Heartland of Centerburg.

Born in Cardington on July 9, 1926, he was the eldest son of the late Frank Delbert and Olive Orral (Myers) Snyder.  He lived the majority of his life in the Marengo area and was a graduate of Marengo High School in 1945. A US Army veteran of WW II, he proudly answered the call to duty.

After the passing of his parents in 1961, he and his brothers Stanley and John carried on the family tradition and operation of Snyder’s Milling Service in Marengo. As one who could fix anything, he continued to be employed at the mill for his brother Stanley until his retirement.

He was a member of the Marengo United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 710.  An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed playing cards and picking his guitar.

Delbert will be missed by daughter: Brenda (Dan) Keller of Marengo, son Brian (Kathi) Snyder of Mobile, Alabama, grandchildren: Jerri (Rick) Evans, Valerie (Geoffrey) Price, Randall (Jody) Keller, Bridget (Johnathan) McCarty, Brian (Kim) Snyder, Clay (Stephanie) Bradley, Phillip (Kathryn) Bradley, Mason (Norma) Bradley, 13 Great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was also preceded in death by Brothers: John in 2002, Stanley in 2008, and Great-granddaughter: Jenna Keller.

Friends may call Saturday 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home (SR 229) Marengo, where a service celebrating the life of Delbert Snyder will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Sue Antolik officiating. Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery with military honors.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Marengo United Methodist Church.
