Richard Floyd Fitch, age 78 of Richwood, died Thursday afternoon June 24, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born November 24, 1931 in New Boston to the late Joseph Franklin and Jessie (Rife) Fitch.
On April 8, 1952 he married the former Faye Salley in Rushville, Indiana and she survives.
He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during the Korean Conflict serving with 196th Field Artillery Unit. He was a machine operator at the Hercules Box Company in Columbus for 30 years and owned a gas station in Magnetic Springs for 20 years. He had worked as a security guard at the Honda East Liberty plant for 18 years. He was a member of Richwood Church of Christ.
Richard was a big NASCAR fan, especially of the Ford drivers. He enjoyed squirrel and rabbit hunting when he was able. A huge North Union Wildcats fan, he loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Rick (Mary) Fitch, Richwood; Rod (Becky) Fitch, Magnetic Springs; Randy (Anna) Fitch, Richwood a daughter, Rhonda (John) King, Richwood; a brother, John (Joan) Fitch, Florida; and a sister, Sherry Sartin, Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mona Mortiz.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, June 27, 2010 at 3:00 PM in the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Matt Craig officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Military honors will be provided by the Richwood Area Veterans. A private family graveside will take place at Claibourne Cemetery at a later date.
